INFO

We are a dance company with a very long history, passed from generation to generation and being carried on to the now. That's what makes us unique, we're like a family celebrating our history.

The Ballet de Sally Savedra was established by Sally Savedra in 1962 in Rosemead, California. Her Love of dance began as a young child. She received training in Ballet, Tap, and Ballet Folklorico in Downtown Los Angeles. She also studied classical Spanish dance under the instruction of Rita Hayworth’s father and famous dancer, Eduardo Cansino from the Dancing Cansino’s. Through years of hard work and determination, she progressed to establish the previously named Sally Savedra Dancers. She began by teaching in her backyard, providing lessons out of her garage to only eight students. As the group began to grow, she sought various teaching locations and also began performing in neighborhood shows, parades, and festivals. Through gaining recognition, the companies name was changed from to the Ballet de Sally Savedra to accommodate the groups various styles of dance. The company earned a contract for weekly performances at Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain. Then the Ballet de Sally Savedra made a great leap forward when they were invited to perform in 1969 for the then president Richard Nixon. The company also performed at a fundraiser for Sickle Cell Anemia where they performed alongside with such legends as Carol, Burnett, Ray Charles, and Sammy Davis Jr. at The Cocoanut Grove in Los Angeles. Through the years, Sally Savedra has guided her company with such appearances as in the Rose Bowl’s

Fourth of July International Celebration where they represented Spain and Mexico. When Sally Savedra passed away in June of 2000, her daughter, Cynthia Camacho carried on her legacy as director for the company. Today, the Ballet de Sally Savedra maintains a contract with the Santa Anita Race Track for weekly performances. They continue to perform annually at the LA County Fair, just as they have for over the past 4o years and recently at the Orange County Fair. The company presents there art variously throughout the year at Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure’s grand re-opening. Carrying on in her mother’s footsteps, Cynthia has continued to cherish the importance of remaining active in the community through local festivals, parades, church events, and private celebrations. She thrives in providing many opportunities for her students to showcase their talents and love for their heritage. The Ballet de Sally Savedra believes dance is a celebration. They wish to inspire passion and pride in their dancers and in their audiences, while preserving culture, history, and traditions to endure through generations and into the future.
